Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of WordMeter ("the Service") at wordmeter.app. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

WordMeter is a collection of free, browser-based text-analysis tools (word count, character count, readability, keyword density, syllable count, reading time, and related). Counting and analysis run in your browser - the Service does not transmit your text to our servers.

2. Acceptable use

You may use the Service for personal, educational, or commercial purposes. You agree not to:

Use the Service to violate any applicable law or third-party right.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, our infrastructure, or other users' data.
Run automated scrapers, denial-of-service attacks, or abuse that degrades the Service for others.
Reverse-engineer or repackage the Service in a way that misrepresents its origin.

We may rate-limit, block, or refuse service to any client engaging in abuse.

3. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Counts and metrics are best-effort estimates - do not rely on them for legally binding word limits, contract deliverables, or academic submissions without your own verification.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WordMeter and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the Service, including loss of data, lost profits, or business interruption. Our total aggregate liability for any direct claim is limited to USD 100.

5. Intellectual property

WordMeter's name, logo, layout, and original content are the property of the operator. You retain full ownership of any text you paste into the tools - because that text never reaches us, no license is granted or required.

6. Shareable result links

Some tools generate shareable URLs that encode result statistics directly into the link. By clicking "Share" you accept that anyone with the link can view the encoded result. Do not share confidential text via these links.

7. Third-party content

Programmatic SEO pages may reference public information about books, platforms, or formats (e.g. Twitter character limits, Dune word count). These references are for informational purposes; trademarks and copyrights remain with their respective owners.

8. Changes to the Service

We may add, change, or remove tools, features, or routes at any time. Free tools may be moved behind a paid tier in the future; any such change will not retroactively charge you for past usage.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the operator's principal place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
